Inspiration from Joan Mitchell.

(source)

I have loved Helen Frankenthaler for years but hadn't stumbled across Joan Mitchell until this morning. Her paintings are expressive, emotional, and violent at times. She was an essential member of the American Abstract Expressionist movement even though she lived in France. She has often said that she wanted her work "to convey the feeling of the dying sunflower". Death and beauty are consistent themes throughout her life, and I can't stop looking.
